Protecting configuration.php in Joomla 1.5

Why do you need to protect configuration file? The configuration file is very vulnerable in joomla, because it contains important information. If the server has been hacked, it's easy to find this file, then your website in danger. However, sometimes hackers intend to find out whether your configuration files in a protected condition or not. If hackers can edit the file, then your website will be very dangerous.
There are several basic functions to protect the configuration files are:

• Set the permissions on the Configuration file. Should block the user whose not valid for this file.

Use and configure the component

So, how to use this component? Follow this step:

• Install the component, if you cannot install the component, maybe you have not change the directory permission.
• After you successfully installed component, going to Extensions > Protect Config > Permission to change configuration.php file permission.
• Set the permission like the picture.
• If you want to change its name, choose “Rename” menu.
• There are two choise to decide what kind of the file name, you can choose randomly or decided by your self.
• if you want to restore it, just clik restore button.
